PagerDuty
Set up incident management, on-call scheduling, and escalation with PagerDuty. Create services and escalation policies, wire integrations from monitoring tools, manage on-call rotations, and automate incident response workflows via the API.
This skill helps you operationalize on-call with PagerDuty. It creates services and escalation policies, builds on-call schedules and rotations, wires Events API v2 integrations from Prometheus, Datadog, and other monitors, configures event orchestration and routing rules, and automates incidents, notes, and status updates through the REST API. It also covers urgency rules, response plays, and post-incident review exports.
When to use
Use when configuring PagerDuty — services, escalation policies, on-call schedules, Events API integrations, event orchestration rules, or automating incident workflows through the API.
Examples
Escalation policy
Two-tier on-call escalation
Create a PagerDuty service with an escalation policy that pages the primary on-call, escalates to secondary after 15 minutes unacknowledged, and finally notifies the team lead
Wire an alert integration
Trigger from a monitor
Show how to send an incident to PagerDuty using the Events API v2, including dedup_key so repeated alerts update the same incident instead of creating duplicates
