String (Markdown that Runs)
Run a single Markdown file as a portable app, tool, or shell session through the String MCP runtime. Use /open, /act, /install, and /set to read files and URLs, run actions, install apps, and manage credentials from any agent.
String turns one Markdown file (SFMD) into something any agent can execute. The using-string skill teaches Claude how to drive the installed String MCP tool with topics and slash commands — opening files, URLs, and apps, running actions, installing apps, and setting per-app credentials. It is host-agnostic, so the same file works across different agents and MCP hosts.
When to use
Use when you have the String MCP tool installed and want to open files or URLs, run String apps and actions, install apps, manage app credentials, or operate shell sessions through a single portable Markdown interface.
Examples
